Website security for small business (the non-scary version)
'Is my website secure?' is the question nobody asks until something breaks. Here's the calm, plain-English version of what actually matters — no fear-mongering.

Most 'website security' articles are written to terrify you into buying something. This isn't one of those. The truth: small business websites aren't primary targets for master hackers — they're targets for automated bots looking for easy wins. Don't be an easy win. That's 90% of it.
The four things that actually matter
One: SSL (the little padlock). It's free now, and a site without it gets flagged as 'Not Secure' by every browser. If yours doesn't have it, that's a same-day fix.
Two: updates. If your site runs on WordPress or any platform with plugins, outdated software is the #1 way sites get compromised. Updates matter. Someone should be doing them. Ideally not you, at 11pm, vaguely.
Three: backups. If everything goes sideways, a backup means you're back online in an hour, not rebuilding from scratch. This is also what turns a 'website down' panic into a minor blip.

The one thing you don't need to worry about
"Our ads were burning money. Found restructured them and we're getting three times the leads for less spend."

A targeted attack by a skilled hacker who specifically wants your plumbing website. This does not happen. You are not that interesting. What does happen: bots scanning for outdated sites with 'admin/admin' logins. Don't be that site.
If your site is old and creaky, the security conversation usually overlaps with the 'is it time to rebuild' one — which we covered honestly here.
Rather just have us do this?
This is exactly what our monthly plans cover — one simple fee, no big upfront cost, and a team that gets it done.
Every site we build comes secure by default, and we run care plans that handle updates and backups so you literally never have to think about this. If that sounds relaxing, give us a yell.
Rather someone just sorted it?
That's literally what we're here for. One call, and the tech bits stop being your problem.
